April 2024 4" x 6" Northern Catalpa trees are native to north America, and has been of use for Cree and Cherokee nations. The Cherokee people refer to themselves as Ani'-Yun'wiya' meaning "the real people," and the Cree people call themselves Iyiniwok or Ininiwok which means "the people," as well as Nehiyawok that means "speakers of the Cree language." They used the bark to make tea for lung issues, and the seeds and seed pods for multiple medicinal purposes.
