Camellia Flower sketch with a square frame and white background next to a book, plant, and coffee cup. December 2022 4" x 4" Camellia flowers are native to Eastern and Southern Asia such as China, Japan, Korea, India, and Indonesia. Tea oil is made from the seeds to be used as a popular cooking oil for people in southern China. China also uses the flower a lot for symbolism in fine arts, where the petals and the calyx together represent eternal love. The meanings can also vary by color where red means passionate love, white means adoration, and pink means longing. The red Camellias in Japan have been for noble deaths of warriors and samurai recognizing the infinite nature of life. They are also used in religious and sacred ceremonies or as hair accessories in traditional tea ceremonies. In Korea, these flowers symbolize faithfulness and longevity, and have been used in Korean weddings since 1200 B.C.
