The Poppy is an important symbol for resistance and land sovereignty for Palestinian people, and the Periwinkle has been a symbol for Ukrainian people keeping their babies safe. It has been clear how there has been a disparity between the empathy for Ukrainian lives and Palestinian lives, so this is to recognize that Palestinian people’s lives have just as much value. There’s no reason why we can’t care about more than one person at a time, or why any BIPOC life should be valued less than white people.
