Pansy Flower sketch with a square frame next to a book and two small crane decorations above a wooden surface. Fall 2022 4" x 4" Pansy flowers are native to North Africa, Western Asia, and Europe. The name comes from the French word pensée which means thought. This flower asks to be remembered and in Hamlet, Ophelia says "there is pansies, that's for thoughts." In Greek and Roman mythology, they are symbols of cupid, Aphrodite, and Eros, and in Victorian England, lovers would send wild flowers with the pansy in the center. Pansies also represent humility, compassion, and nostalgia.
